"And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God"

"There may be a legitimate diversity of opinion even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not however with regard to abortion and euthanasia."

Paul Ryan, Thomist

Contrary to National Public Radio's assertion in its early reporting of Paul Ryan's selection as GOP vice-presidential candidate, Paul Ryan is not a Randian after all:
"I reject her philosophy," Ryan says firmly. "It's an atheist philosophy. It reduces human interactions down to mere contracts and it is antithetical to my worldview. If somebody is going to try to paste a person's view on epistemology to me, then give me Thomas Aquinas," who believed that man needs divine help in the pursuit of knowledge. "Don't give me Ayn Rand," he says.
I am shocked, shocked, that NPR got it so wrong.
